Three things

First:  Last week I looked out the dining room window and saw this heron in the raised beds.  I have seen him in our neighbor's yard but not in ours.  He walked around and then flew off toward the brook, lake.  He was beautiful to watch.

Second:  Hap: a Scots verb meaning "to wrap snugly" or
"cover up".  Design: large square blanket/shawl featuring a garter-stitch center, Old Shale lacy border and finished with knit lace edging.

I have always wanted to make one.   Here is my beginning.  The directions are from Gundrun Johnston, The Shetland Trader.  She grew up on the Shetland Island.

The center is done, and I am beginning the Old Shale pattern.  Knitting in the round on a 60-inch circular needle.

The Old Shale pattern.  You can see that I have already tinked once.  Tink, to knit backward.  The ball of yarn has brown wrapped over the yellow.  Two rows were tinked (unknit) due to me making a mistake.  (Kinda like frogging.  But I can reknit the yarn.)  Love my Hairy Coo needle minders.

Third:  In the first photo you can see that one (more than one) of my raised beds needs to be put to bed for the winter.  (The four on the other side are done.)  Well, I don't know what happened, but I found myself on the ground.  Got up, walked into the house and asked my husband to please bring me to the ER.  Fractured left wrist, reduced and splinted.  It has been a week since the fall and first Ortho visit will be on Wednesday.

Totally slowing me down but thankfully I am right-handed.  When I get a cast, I should be able to use my fingers and stitch something.  (Hmmm, can't find that crossed finger emoji.)
