Crumbs

I like crumbs!!

Now when I go into my Cave wanting to stitch and not knowing where to begin, I just start with crumbs.  I will mindlessly sew, cut, iron for about 15 minutes. Then I am ready to begin some serious work on my WIPs.  I am getting stuff done!

I had an area of crumbs made and it became a mat for my teapot.  This is all bits of fabric left over that I just hadn't been able to toss.

I sewed them together in no special order.  Then cut a straight edge where I could sew more bits and it grew.  It was cut it into a rectangle and left over batting added.  Then I found a fat quarter that I didn't know what I would use it for.  That became the backing.  Did walking foot sewing, in the ditch, to secure the layers.  Bound it with left over, store bought binding.

Tah Dah!!

My teapot had been sitting on a towel on the counter for ages.  Now it has something pretty to sit on.

When I first put the tea pot on it, I thought "What if I spill tea on it?"  Then I said, "It's made from bits and bobs and to be used and worn out.  Enjoy!!"

I am enjoying.

I have five, nine and a half inch, crumb blocks made and they are heading for life as a table runner.  The left over cut off pieces become the start for more crumb sewing.  May your day be enjoyable.

  1. Funnily enough, I learnt the word crumbs as used in patchwork just yesterday. I like your use of crumbs to create something useful!

  4. Good call, even if you did spill tea on your new mat, just wash it!
